Cherokee Marsh on a misty afternoon in early spring. There was no sky and no more than 30 ft visibility on this day. Everything that is white was literally white when the photo was taken. Kind of spooky, but really beautiful too. Madison, WI
Alright, I'll start with what I think you did well with this photo. The closest tree to the right has extreme clarity. I love how you can see the detail in the moss at just a glance. It adds a simple beauty to the picture. The perspective is just amazing. It looks almost as though the road goes on forever.
A few things you might improve upon are lighting and angle. Maybe wait until the sun dims a bit to take the shot, so that the glare off the snow doesn't blur the surrounding trees. It makes it look like a bad camera's shot towards the back, even though I'm sure it's the snow. The angle might've greatly improved the shot would you have moved a few steps to the right. It would've made the road have only one curve from the viewer's perspective and give it a more mysterious feel.
I still really like this shot and you did a great job. All this is just my perspective on the piece. Keep on taking great photos.
Originality: Initially I would say that this isn't exactly an original piece, given that it's a rural area and trees. However, the path leading into the low misty cloud cover sets it apart from others. It gives it a feeling of enchantment, mystery, and perhaps danger. Almost like one of the older fairy tales where the story could have ended in something darker than a Disney ending.
Technique: From a technical standpoint, I think it's great that you have the path slightly off to the side. It leads the eye properly across the image. The only reason why I rated it a bit lower was because that tree on the far right distracts the eye, interrupting it from its proper path.
Overall, the impact and the vision are stellar. No complaints there.
